Today’s therapists are finding that patients with behaviors indicative of sexual addiction are developing higher levels of dysfunction at faster rates than ever before because of the availability of technological advances that make sexually explicit materials highly accessible. With the rapid increase in the prevalence of sexual addiction, understanding its causes and developmental trajectory, and learning effective ways to treat it, has become essential even for the generalist clinician. This workshop is designed to help social workers and mental health professionals prepare for the upward trends of sexual compulsivity and the integration into general mental health practice. It will focus on: the etiology of sexual addiction, and its assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Participants will have the opportunity for practical application of skills through role-plays and other experiential exercises that will give them tools for assisting individuals in recovery from sexual addiction.

Yehudah graduated from Long Island University with a master’s degree in clinical social work with a focus on treatment of addictive disorders. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. In addition, he is credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor and has been acknowledged by New York State Council on Problem Gambling as a specialist in the treatment of pathological gambling.
