Professor Michael Spicer Gives Keynote Address at Ph.D. Colloquium

Dr. Michael Spicer (third from left), Professor Emeritus of Urban Studies and Public Administration at Cleveland State University, gave the keynote address at SPA’s annual Ph.D. student research colloquium.

At the April 14, 2016, event, Dr. Spicer gave a rousing address that engaged all as he discussed the theorist’s role in public administration. He is joined here by (from left to right) Dr. Art Sementelli, Ph.D. program coordinator, Dr. Steven Bourassa, SPA director, Dr. Cliff McCue, SPA associate director, Dr. Hugh Miller, professor, and Dr. Alka Sapat, associate professor.  Dr. Deborah Floyd, dean of the Graduate College, and Dr. Wes Hawkins, dean of the College for Design and Social Inquiry, gave opening remarks to kick off the event. The doctoral student research presentations throughout the day focused on topics of crisis, professional values, organizational challenges, and service issues. The audience included alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, all of whom were active participants in the dialogue. The event was co-sponsored by the Association of Doctoral Students in Public Administration.
